Topic: DAW Recording and Playback of the High Resolution MIDI with Pianoteq

When I record and playback in high resolution MIDI mode on Pianoteq standalone with my Casio Privia, I can monitor the high resolution playback in the MIDI window.  However, when I record the MIDI using the External MIDI feature in Properllerhead Reason or as a plug-in in logic and monitor MIDI, it appears to playback in standard MIDI.  Does anyone know how to record high resolution MIDI in Pianoteq using a DAW?  Thanks.

Re: DAW Recording and Playback of the High Resolution MIDI with Pianoteq

When you use a Pianoteq plugin in your DAW and open the "options" panel to see the the midi input do you see the high res midi messages (CC#88 I think)?   If you do not then it would seem that something in your DAW must be filtering them out.   I suggest reading the Properhead manual, because I do not think the problem has anything to do with Pianoteq.   I do not think this is a general DAW problem because I did a quick test with the DAW Ardour using one of the hi-res Ecomp files as input and had no problems recording the extra controller midi info.

Thanks for the reply.  Using Pianoteq with Reason is a little tricky because you it does not support VST or AU plug ins.  Instead, you use an "External MIDI Instrument" which sends MIDI out to an external device - in my case, Pianoteq Standalone.  When I record the MIDI in Reason presumably it is filtering out the high res info from my controller before it hits the MIDI input in Pianoteq.  I will see if there is any filtering happening in Logic (where I can use Pianoteq as an AU plug-in.
