Topic: MIDI Bank select and MMC not working...?

Hello, it seems Pianoteq cannot see my MIDI Bank select and MMC messages. When pressing the Bank select buttons on my master keyboard, it only notices the program change part of the complex message, but not the Bank select. The MMC messages seem to be invisible as well. I analyzed the MIDI messages with a midi monitor tool and they are standard MMC: SysEx messages with vendor id set to 0. Should there be some special vendor id for Pianoteq? Or what is the problem?

Re: MIDI Bank select and MMC not working...?

Possibly you'll have to re-tailor your expectations. Such a topic as yours has never been discussed here, and as you see no-one's jumping out of the bushes with expert advice, meaning you know more about your 'area' than anyone, are the expert.

But, what Pianoteq does have to say about MIDI is covered - briskly - on pages 24, 25 of the current Manual, where Sysex isn't mentioned, while you're directed to the Options>MIDI page of the Standalone version for more sophisticated options (and where again the discussion's brisk).

However, if you change  the Current MIDI Mapping from Minimalistic to Full Featured, and run the slider fully-down, there you'll find a clutch of MMC settings.  Whether these can be modified to what'd suit your purposes, then saved, or others added then saved, isn't known to me.

Meantime, Bank Select for Pianoteq's purposes seems to be set directly from the GUInterface. Possibly some Control Change message(s) can affect it, but your fingers certainly can. Next to the Preset Selector of the main GUI, spot the 1st icon rightward (a pen) and leftclick to get up the Preset Management window, which can be slid around and at right of which are the management controls. A little playing around will show how they work.

Re: MIDI Bank select and MMC not working...?

You are right. But the problem is that it does not work for me.

Pianoteq monitors the incoming MIDI messages, so that I can see that it does not see/show the ones I am complaining about. It shows all the other messages.
A separate MIDI monitor application shows all messages comming to my computer, so it reveals that they actually ARE there. It is only Pianoteq that pretends they do not exist. My question is whether this is some bug, incomplete implementation in Pianoteq or some other problem with the settings of my MIDI controller.

Hit the Home  Page, and bottom submenu of the Support menutab is Contact Support. If anyone...

Re: MIDI Bank select and MMC not working...?

I'm not a real expert but I think Pianoteq supports quite a bit of midi control.   Click "Options" button and then "MIDI" the options panel.  You can select different midi mappings with the "Current midi mappings" menu.
If you change the set up, you can save your setup to a new name if desired.  To change the setup hover your mouse over the list of controller numbers and right click (on 3 button mouse) which will bring up a menu which allows your to set all manner of midi MMC, CC, program change, and aftertouch parameters.

Also read the Pianoteq manual sections 3.2-3.4
