Topic: Newbie

Just joined and glad to be a new member.I'm having difficulty in downloading (from pianoteq) the trial version of "stage".Evidently the files are not recognized by microsoft for some reason. Now this was the result of saving the file for downloading vs "run".When I run the download it seems to take forever.and wont download. My computer meets all the requirements for downloading. Also "Sweetwater" sells this product here in the states for $129.00(stage).Would I have an easier time in just buying  the product?Whats the the general concensus here regarding who to buy from?
Thanx in advance.

Re: Newbie

Hi mate . I just tried and downloaded (save as) on a vista and Win8 laptop, both with no problems, it downloaded with 200kb/sec and worked just fine. The files are recognized also. So no problems here. To try it for you I installed the demo version on my laptop I don't use for music, and it did that fine.

Hmm, what could it be? In my browser, firefox, I have "extras" "downloads". You see the downloaded file there. Just doubleclick it (I save the files to my machine, I do not "run" them). You choose what you'd like to install, (rtas-file is not needed if you don't have protools. Both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the plugin are there - you need only one, depending on your machine and host. You could of course install both to try them out, whatever you like or need. You install the standalone too, so you can directly play pianoteq without using a host like Cubase or Reaper or whatever.)

Then you tell pianoteq where the folder for your vst-plugins is,  or just use the one that is suggested.
It installs after just a few clicks. When you're done you can open the standalone version or a host and load your pianoteq as plugin there. I guess you know all that perfectly, but just wanted to make sure.
I have no clue why the download should not show up....hmmm....

I always bought directly from pianoteq, but that's of course your decision. All the best, and have fun, pianoteq is superb^^. Maybe others will chime in and help, if you specify what happens so that you can't see the downloaded file. all the best!

Nice it worked :-). Have fun - your piano has hammer mechanics and seems to be better than my oldie-Yamaha-clavinova ;-). I don't own stage, but I think it will be just the same - you can adapt the PX 350 previa to pianoteq. Right click at the velocity pane where you see that diagonal line and choose "keyboard calibration assistant". Or above  Window -->keyboard calibration assistant. (I just write this as I am born to overlook things sometimes^^ - Pianoteq asks you to calibrate when you start first time anyway, if I remember right^^).

You surely know already that you can add nice free instruments (http://www.pianoteq.com/free_addons).

Take a look around, and have fun! I quite like those old free pianos of all ages, pianofortes like Walter,  grands like Bechstein, there are quite a lot. Cheers!

Re: Newbie

Hello Timedriver . . .  there are lot's of nice people on these forum pages.  All quite helpful.  I run an aging Mac PowerBook G4.  Also use a multi-channel M-Audio in/out and that is a lot of fun to keep the microphones in the record feature of PTQ separated right out to several amps and speakers close to the piano.
