Topic: Super Upright piano, sadly don't get market.

This news is from 1993, about the creation of a upright piano that sounded like a good grand piano.

A special soundboard and a new action to allow fast repetition similar to a grand piano.

Pay attention to the mechanism.

A spring brings the jack back very shortly after strike, allowing very fast repetition.

If it was really good, why nobody (manufacturer) got interest and the idea died???

The soundboard design looks like inovatove.

Anyawy I always ask why nobody tries to use a grand piano soundboard format in vertical position.

Re: Super Upright piano, sadly don't get market.

I think the strings will vibrate much less in a vertical position with less sustain.
On a grand you have all the weight against the floor to stabilize the whole frame.
The vertical frame piano is like placing the woofer on the top end on a high speaker.
That's allso why we need to use spikes under a speaker to ground it better to the floor and make the speaker cone vibrate without the cabinet moving along with it.

FYI, Seiler have an upright action that they say is very fast:

Seiler Super-Magnet-Repetition –
Ensures an unsurpassed repetition speed for uprights; the unique point is the use of two magnets instead of a spring system
