Topic: New version of the PSP PianoVerb released

The old version is still available, but may not be for long. The new one is not free, but is temporarily on sale, and there is a downloadable demo.

Here's the link to the page that has a link to the demo:

Re: New version of the PSP PianoVerb released

Went and bought it, only to learn from the EULA it's a one-computer licence. Thanks for tipping the free version's maybe temporary, I'll get it while the getting's good.

ADDED: haven't studied it yet, but have noticed its Harmonic Reverb preset warms up the (now extended) version of HIM-n-HER I'm working on (Nephew, for whom I wrote it as Waltz Practice, complained it was 'too short'), in a way like singing in the shower. Notably bassier. Might post it.

Re: New version of the PSP PianoVerb released

I downloaded the demo and played around with the settings using an older sample library. Some interesting results with tweaking. I haven't tried it with Pianoteq yet. I want to set up my old computer and dig out the older version of PianoVerb, which I can no longer find on their site. Somehow I remember it as having a set of delayed lines that were more audible as distinct lines. But that was some time ago.

Note that the manual suggests, for a piano sound, transposing the reverb down by a single octave. Many of the presets do something else, so trying to tweak other parameters will not create the intended sound.

EDIT: My mistake about the many lines. I was thinking of the program named Sympathizer, which does have distinct lines. See http://www.forum-pianoteq.com/viewtopic.php?id=252.

Re: New version of the PSP PianoVerb released

I downloaded all previous versions  via my account on website, where they're present (MAC, PC, 32/64-bit, versions 1.7.1 & 1.7.0). So name your poison and I'll upload it to DropBox then mail you the folder's link there, whence you can download it at leisure.

In vague authorise-association with my account's entry for those previous versions is a number-entry, identical for both PC and MAC.  Having no info whatever as to what to do with this number, if anything, I'm at a loss. Is one expected to use it somehow? Is it a key? Or just some numeric identity-tag meaning ME to the site's trackers and sniffers, and with no other purpose (ie, 'we wish we could use this but the horse has bolted, since the software was released free, dammit')?

Still haven't perused manual, but with preset Harmonic Reverb plus cranking the Transpose wheel OPPOSITELY to the manual's nostrum, full UPWARD, effect is to accompany PTQ's Right Hand with something between a Nutty Squirrel and a Jew's Harp sound higher up, while leaving PTQ's Left Hand sound pretty much untouched. So, if that was LH reverb transposed UP and phase-interacting with the RH direct music sounds, and Harmonic Reverb's default Transpose setting is numeric (whatever-it-stands-for) 4 DOWN, the RH down-transposed reverb might well phase-interact pleasantly with the Left Hand's direct sound (to the extent I wrote the two Hands in harmony, which with a fair bit of license - I LIKE discord - I did), to boost the bass and yield the Singing-in-the-Shower result I got.

I'll post it, have a listen.

(Did you see the note I added about transposing the reverb a single octave down? The old manual suggested this. I'm not sure if the new one does. But that one-step transposition may create a better sound, or at least reduce the chipmunk, etc sounds that you mention.)

Re: New version of the PSP PianoVerb released

A high hand has deleted my post, unwarrantedly, as usual, as it'd realise if it looked at the post's Properties just once: they conform to spec exactly. I've had that little game, and will post a full-blown WAV to DropBox. That plus copies of both 32-bit and 64-bit old PianoVerb versions I'll mail you a DropBox link to.

That way you needn't Lazarus your old machine to hunt up whichever the versions were. From the date of that post you linked to (2007), every chance it may NOT Lazarus!

Re: New version of the PSP PianoVerb released

I like this plug; I used also for percussion, listen to the very big spaces here:

Now without the needing of the dropbox and without speaking too loud being a little criptic too:
go on psp product page, copy the pianoverb2 download link, paste it on your browser and delete the "2" then press enter..

Re: New version of the PSP PianoVerb released

Here's a link to the DropBox folder I've put 2 MP3s -

PTQ

Folder has HIMnHER 20 (NO REVERB).mp3, which has the pure Pianoteq sound, no reverb from any source whatever, inside Pianoteq or out.

Plus HIMnHER 20 (HARMONIC REVERB).mp3, which takes NO REVERB and plays it thru PianoVerb 2's Harmonic Reverb preset, with default settings.

Backstory to the piece is, comes time for the Bridal Waltz, and Nephew and his new Missus make a lame no-idea-how try at it, followed by Salsa, which they danced with fire and ability - they met at Salsa Class, that's why.

So they need Waltz Practice, badly, and here's my shot, aiming for steps, with solemns, and wjth colds and warms mixed.
