Topic: Experiment: Low impedance and low lid
Uploaded these experimental files demonstrating the results of using a nearly closed lid and setting the Soundboard impedance to its minimum value. May be of interest: The sustain is reduced a bit, but still valid, and the timbre changes quite a bit: a little more of a close-up feel? Listen to the decay--I hear the individual strings more?
(My sustain pedal is locked to cc 4 in the fxp. You MAY have to attach it to cc 64.)
Play around with the SS, mic positions, lid position, impedance, cutoff, and Q factor, and --um--everything else. (No note edits were done--this is the default YC5 Studio Close Mic preset with those elements changed globally.)
The mp3 and midi file are just to demonstrate the timbre. Just playing some chords at first to demonstrate the sound in various regions of the keyboard. At the start, the SS is low, at 200. At the end the SS is high, at 414.
