Topic: No Audio from Standalone Demo

I downloaded the demo to try out Pianoteq on my Macbook Pro.  It is running OSX 10.5.  I use my Access Virus as a soundcard.  However, Pianoteq does not see the Virus for audio output.  The only thing appearing in the audio output listbox is the built-in sound card.  Midi through the Virus works fine, and I use the Virus audio in several other applications.  The Virus is the default audio input and output in the Audio MIDI Setup dialog.  I have tried rebooting the computer, the Virus, and Pianoteq, but none of it seems to work.  Any ideas?

Re: No Audio from Standalone Demo

Why not using the built-in soundcard, to try it at least?

Hard work and guts!

Because it is crap.  I don't think that I can give Pianoteq a fair comparison to the pianos on my RD-700sx when Pianoteq is playing through the lousy built-in sound card.

I really don't understand why Pianoteq doesn't see the Virus, when Live, iTunes, and Finale all use it without problems.

Re: No Audio from Standalone Demo

Does the Access Virus actually have a digital soundcard inside? I thought it was more a synth. (It could do audio in and out without having a soundcard built in.)

Assuming that it does, some things to look at: (Sorry if these are self-evident.)

Is the latest driver for the soundcard installed?

If it does have a soundcard, did you check in the PT interface that the correct driver type and outputs are selected? (As opposed to just the name of the soundcard.)

Do the PTeq settings match the capabilities of the soundcard? (ie, do you have Pteq set for 24 bits, while the soundcard can only do 16, etc)

Did you try reinstalling the soundcard driver after installing Pteq, and then configuring the Pteq options? (Sometimes the order in which things are installed matters, although it shouldn't.)

Have you checked the soundcard's Settings dialog box for any strangeness?

If the Virus is a usb device, have you tried attaching it to another usb port before booting the computer?
