Topic: Yamaha GH, GHE, GH3 action design flaw solved
I own a ~ 4yr old Yamaha P120 Stage Piano. For a long time I had noticed friction between the keyfronts and keyfront locators. This was most noticable when playing soft chromatic runs, but also noticable when playing any soft piece. I have finally found the solution to this. It is a silicone spray which, when applied to the front and sides of the locators, totally gets rid of all the friction. It is sprayed on using the supplied staw. Sometimes notes stop working because the spray get on the velocity censors, but as soon as it dries out (may take a day or so) the notes all work again. The silicone spray is manufactured by 3-in-one and it is available at most DIY retailers (UK). It is safe to use on rubber, wood, vinyl and also safe to use in electronics. I have recorded a chromatic scale played on my P120 since applying the silicone spray to demonstrate the smoothness. Any lack of fluidity is due to my playing and not the lack of effectiveness of the spray and current smoothness felt when playing. The mp3 is here http://www.forum-pianoteq.com/uploads.php. Anyone using a Yamaha P120, P140, P155, CP33, etc or any keyboard with this action (GHE, GH or GH3) will find this an effective remedy. Hope this helps. http://www.3inone.com/products/silicone-spray/
