Topic: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

Well, since I already have a box.net account, I though it would be nice to share my recordings with Pianoteq 3 with the rest of you. I see no point in uploading the files again to Files section, when they are already up online.

So I'm gonna use this topic to post my stuff that gets recorded. Right off the bat, we have a nice little soothing piece. It isn't a perfect recording, I'm not satisfied with how dynamics of a few notes turned out, but I refused editing the MIDI stream just because of it. Imperfections make things all the more interesting. Without further ado...:

The EvilDragon's Lair! - Soothing Dream (Mayflower)

Hard work and guts!

Re: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

Listening to it right now - beautiful and serene.

The only critique I have is that I wish it was longer.

Very well done.

Glenn

PS - what piano and what variations were used?

Re: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

I didn't imagine that a evil dragon would compose a so relaxing soft music.
So, it's not that evil at all...

;-)

Good work !

Re: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

Pure C3 Ambience with reverb tweaked to be longer and atmospheric. Nothing else tweaked.

And thanks for comments

Thanks, I'd better try that (C3 Ambience).

Re: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

there is plenty of room for soothing sounds within evil purpose...

very nice composition, and especially the arrangement is incredibly tasteful.  i think the length is about perfect for the concepts contained within the form.

thank you for sharing!  maybe someday i will post some of mine (maybe someday i will decently record some of mine...)

Re: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

Some new stuff, this time in semi-orchestral context (no brass or woodwinds, only percussion and strings).

Used Flamenco Sketches patch, with a nice little bump on Pianoteq's EQ in treble range, some 6 dB, to make it a bit more standing out. Still, when strings go high, piano is a bit covered. That's intentional.

This is background main menu music in a visual novel game I'm making a soundtrack for.

ED:

I like it.  Nicely orchestrated, and a rather haunting sound.

2 nice pieces of work. Evil dragon should be in the film score writing business!

Maybe one day. I am aiming towards it

Re: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

This sounds great. At first I had to learn my ears to listen to those huge reverbs, but after a couple of bars, yes, completely right. It fitted the performance and the idea behind it. A bit Celtic influenced, Am I right?

Re: EvilDragon loves Pianoteq

No, not really. Haven't had Celtic music in my mind at all.

At first, the piano wasn't supposed to be there in the first place, but two acoustic guitars. Alas, I don't have the possibility of recording them yet, so I switch them with a piano line. And basically this is what I got.

It's an older song of mine, probably over 3 years old. It's now completely rendered as I wanted it to be.
