Topic: Ensemble percussion instrument suggestion
With all these new percussion extras being developed for Pianoteq, it does bring up an obvious secondary product -namely, an actual percussion ensemble instrument. Now I know we don't want to divert the Pianoteqnicians from their continual search for the holy grail of modelled piano, but...
By an ensemble instrument, I mean that this would have to be a different interface, one that would offer different instruments assignable to different keys as opposed to one instrument spread out across the keyboard. Like a standard eDrum machine. I could already see doing this with multiple copies of Pianoteq running in VSTi slots with different instruments customized for a percussion sound. But that is clunky -and uses a LOT of processor umph. I just wonder if there would be less processor required if the polyphony was reduced for each percussion instrument so that the overhead would not be overly taxing with this multiple percussion instrument motif. Imagine instead of polyphony, you have a bit of sympathetic vibrations among the separate instruments? Yes, this could be very cool -no ?
Oh yeah.. and I'm thinking a minimum number of instruments would be four and a maximum number ten.
