Topic: Strange sample rate issue with Pianoteq. Or Avid?

In either PT3 or 4, when I change the sample rate to 44 or 88k, I get perfectly good sound. And I see the sample rate of the Avid Mbox 3 change to 44 or 88 accordingly. But when I select 48 or 96k, I get no sound, even though I do see the Mbox 3 changes to 48 or 96k.

I'm also having issues with my Line 6 POD HD500 S/PDIF out. You can set the HD500 to 44, 48, 88, or 96k. But for some strange reason, when I set the clock to external, the Mbox 3 only reads 48 or 96k. But I get sound from all settings, and in the right pitch.

EDIT: I think I've narrowed it down to the Mbox. When I select built-in output, I get sound at all 4 sample rates. It's only when I select the Mbox as my output device that I'm missing sound on 48 and 96k settings.

Ideas?

Re: Strange sample rate issue with Pianoteq. Or Avid?

I just bought Pianoteq Pro 4 here, and I am having a similar problem.  This is with Pro Tools 10.2 with the HD Native card.  Pianoteq says it is internally running at 48k.  I tried setting it to 96k and it immediately crashes Pro Tools and spits out this error:

This is with my Pro Tools session already set to 96k.  Changing the engine to my built in output (rather than the Native card) doesn't fix the issue.

It still sound absolutely incredible at 48k.  But if it can sound even better, I'm very interested in getting this fixed

AFAIK, due to the design of PT, you'll gain nothing working at higher sample rates... maybe I'm wrong, I just seem to remember an old discussion about this.

truelight, this issue is not related to the problem of Joshua. It is however a bug in pianoteq, and should be fixed in the next pianoteq update (will be available next week).

I know all about it. These problems surfaced when I tried using a Line 6 POD HD's spdif out. Didn't matter what rate it was set to, Mbox would only recognize 48k or 96k. That's when I noticed that it wouldn't respond to MIDI from my keyboard at those sample rates either.

I spoke to a Sweetwater tech and we ran a bunch of tests. They think it's a hardware issue with the Mbox, so I'm sending it to them for repair.
