Topic: Anyone tried a Macbook Air with PT4?

I'm attracted to the instant-on facility of the Macbook Air but worry about whether 1.8ghz is enough juice to give me dropout-free playing and my current perf index of 36 with all options more or less maxed out (41 000hz, 128 poly, 4.1ms latency etc). These new i7 processors, even dual core as opposed to 4 core, are supposed to be good and don't give a straight comparison with the speeds of pre-Sandy Bridge processors, but are dual core versions at sub 2 ghz speeds good enough?

If anyone has any experience of using one of these units I would be grateful for your views . . .

Re: Anyone tried a Macbook Air with PT4?

hi,

absolutely no need to worry. on my mba i5 1.7 ghz (sandy bridge) i get perf index 45. i usually run pt 4 on an older macbook with 2.4 ghz, and the mba is so much faster.

Re: Anyone tried a Macbook Air with PT4?

I used to use PT3 with my old MBA. Occasionally I got clicks and would turn off the wireless to fix them (also stop beeps when emails came in). Afraid I don't remember the speed etc of the old one. It was a first generation with just 2GB RAM. Now I have the latest model 1.7 GHz Core i5 and it has no trouble whatsoever with PT3 or now PT4.
Cheers,
  Clive.

Many thanks for these replies - sounds like the Macbook Air is a goer.
