Topic: Kurzweil PC3K8 and Yamaha FC3 sustain pedal with Pianoteq 4

I just got Pianoteq 4 which I really like and I'm using a Kurzweil PC3K8 as a controller for it. Presently I'm using an old Ensoniq Digital Piano sustain pedal with the PC3K8 because the sustain pedal that came with my PC3K8 stopped working. Would using a Yamaha FC3 sustain pedal work with the PC3K8 like it does with the Motif XF in regard to sustain control?

Re: Kurzweil PC3K8 and Yamaha FC3 sustain pedal with Pianoteq 4

Kurzweil PC3 series do not support continuous pedals in their switch pedal inputs. As you may know, on the back of your PC3K8 you have three switch pedal inputs and two continuous pedal inputs (for pedals like CC-1, FC7, etc.)

You may try plugging your sustain pedal in one of two CC inputs, but then you will have to modify your Control Setup (which is, by default, 126 Internal Voices) to set that CC input as a sustain pedal (instead of volume or wah control, which are CC7 and CC4 respectively). Note that I didn't try this since I don't have a half-damper pedal, but it might work. Kurzweils are generally very flexible workstations.

Hard work and guts!

Thank you for the info about trying the Yamaha FC3 pedal with a CC input. I will get a FC3 pedal and try that out and let you know if it works. I have a Motif XF6 so getting a FC3 pedal won't be a waste of money if it doesn't work with the PC3K8.

The Yamaha FC3 doesn't work with the PC3K8 but the Roland DP 10 does. Thank you ED for the tip about the control setup!
