Topic: PNOscan in Kawai AWA PRO I/II or RM3
I love taking apart my keyboards and looking at every aspect of the action up close and personal...as I was looking into my newly acquired Kawai CA-X (Featuring the old AWA PRO I wooden action), it appears that the installation of PNOscan MIDI strip would be a very simple task. Since the "hammers" and physical contact sensors are not underneath, it looks like there is a generous amount of space under the action to play with. Looking at pictures online of the new Kawai RM3 action, it appears that the build is very similar, aside from staggered pivot points between the black and white keys, which may simply require more calibration in the strip.
Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures, and since reading all of Chris's posts about all of his hard work installing the PNOscan strip into the Numa Nero, as well as his high praise of the results, it has crossed my mind to do the same...largely because it looks so much easier with the Kawai wooden actions (which happen to also be my all time favorite in terms of realism...I've given Roland's PHA III many chances, and simply can't fall in love with it). I think using an action like this could make a lot more people interested in purchasing the PNOscan midi strip...perhaps it be possible to simply slide the strip in from the side without taking out any keys? What do you all think?
