Topic: Firewire soundcard mac w/ 64 samples buffer

Does anyone get good sound from a firewire soundcard on Mac while using a 64 samples buffer? (ie. to get a very low latency) I'd like to know which one/brand to buy.

Thanks a lot!

Paul

Hi Paul,

I'd definitely have a look at those RME prodcuts. From my experience, they have very well-programmmed and stable drivers and usually allow for low latency.

E.g. I use an RME Fireface UC running at 64 samples buffer size under Windows and it works very fine.
This is very different from what you mentioned, of course, but might give you a hint.

Hi Paul,

Take a look at this: http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio...re_pro_24/

I got one a couple of months ago and haven't looked back.  I paid 250GBP (=€300) for it.  It's solid, professional, has no noticeable latency issues and is expandable.  Above all, I have no cable switching to do if I want to play direct from my Yamaha CP33 with onboard sounds into speakers or headphones, or if I want to play via Pianoteq.  I can also divert pre-recorded music to the speakers/headphones and 'jam' with it using either Pianoteq or the CP33 sound set, and adjust the mix of the various channels to suit.

Of course, this may not be what you are looking for, but it's worth having a look at.

PS I use it with a MacBook Intel Core 2 Due 2.2Ghz with 2GB Ram.
