Topic: "PIANOTEQ.exe -- entry point not found"

Hi all,
I have a Dell laptop Inspiron 8600 XP Pro SP 1, it has been for audio only no internet. I haven't used it much the past few years, mainly just for standalone Pianoteq [standard] with no problems.

I purchased the "Rock Collection", got my serial number, and was trying to figure out how to get it going. I found this, specifically post #2:

http://www.forum-pianoteq.com/viewtopic.php?id=1726

and decided to update from 3.5 to 3.6.6 to see if that would work. Then I got:

"PIANOTEQ.exe -- entry point not found"
"The procedure entry point DecodePointer could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

For the heck of it, as I do not have any projects in need of old versions, I deleted all traces of PTQ [back to version 2] and tried reinstalling the update 3.6.6. Same results as above.

Then I tried installing the latest demo version, same results again. Everything was working fine before, any info greatly appreciated.

On another note, is there a simple non-intrusive way to make a dedicated audio computer safe for online updating, looking at manuals, perhaps the occasional audio forum search?
thanks for any info,
Matt

Re: "PIANOTEQ.exe -- entry point not found"

Hi Matt,

The best fix for this problem is to upgrade your XP to SP2. You will probably get this error more and more in the future as it seems to be triggered by apps who were built with the latest microsoft compiler version.

You can try version 3.6.5 it should be ok (you will find it in http://www.pianoteq.com/user_area , just below version 3.6.6). Contact us at support@pianoteq.com if you still have issues.
