Topic: Now seriously thinking of Kawai CL35 (AHA VI-f action)

The CL35 has the AHA VI-f Action. At approximately £250-£300 cheaper than the entry CN23 It does seem a much more sensible option for me.

However, I would ask anyone here on the forum who has either tried both the
Kawai AHA VI-f action and the Kawai RH action, or who owns a CL35 to give advice as to whether there is a major difference in touch feel between the two.

I certainly don't wish to pay an extra £250-£300 for miniscule improvements!!!

Also, I'm not that bothered about having "Ivory feel" (or escapement for that matter!).

Thank you to all those who posted on the previous Kawai CN23 advice thread.

Warm regards,

Chris

Hi am not to crazy about the ivory feel thing ether, having keys that absorb moister is probably not the best thing if you want to keep your keys clean. The harder key surfaces will also last a lot longer. I recently picked up a numa nero because its one of the few top actions that have normal hard key tops but also using real wood in the key construction, this is the best keybed Ive played i find it better than the Kawai mp8 ii. I also saved a lot of money being a MIDI controller only i have no need for internal sounds.

Better look for Kawai CN43  •  CN33  •  CN23 series digital pianos, because they have Responsive Hammer (RH) Action with Let-off . This is much better. Or Kawai MP10 & MP6 .

Re: Now seriously thinking of Kawai CL35 (AHA VI-f action)

Why we always talking about price ?... What here all poor people session, who ask where to buy cheapest piano .?.., I think we are talking about good quality instrument , which not break piano player hands , & this is not cheap things , or better, that  U will save $400 & after will break your hands & become invalid pianist ? & if we talk about Kawai MP5..., yes, it's not bad instrument , but it not have responsive Hammer (RH) Action with Let-off , & other new features, for that U pay little bit more, not for name only . If U are real & serious pianist , U must have best instrument as possible , & for this instrument U spend Your money not every day, but buying piano for many years, & to save money on Your instrument I think is bad idea . To keep Your hands & fingers healthy & spend $400 - $500 more is better , than spend these money for doctor after..., & I'm sure it will not helps. Or if U decided to have Pianoteq, not be stingy to have good keys & respect Yourself . I think we were talking about best keys , but not about best price... . Sorry for my english ... . & bad words.

In the other way , if for U doesn't matter which kind of key , & doesn't matter it's Ivory or not , or even U are not pianist & don't care about Your fingers & take care about Your pocket , the best for U is FATAR VMK-88 PLUS , it is 88 keys w. light-weighted keys. & 7,7kg. & what is most important for western people ,- price  EUR 279   !!!! )))) http://www.thomann.de/gb/fatar_vmk88_plus.htm

Cicotte, I have just seen that the Numa Nero can be purchased for less than £1000 here in the UK. I think that's what I'll buy! I know the action is eceptional and its £700 cheaper than Yamahas lowest priced piano containing their natural wood action!

What I'd like to know from you is whether there is anything you DON'T like about the keyboard (any cons). Some people have had problems. Have you?

Thank you,

Chris

Re: Now seriously thinking of Kawai CL35 (AHA VI-f action)

I can say only my experience , that I have had problems with weighted action keyboards from these companies : Alesis ( they used Fatar keys ) , M-Audio ( this is for one year to use, & break your hands ), Yamaha P series ( p90, P85, p95 ) or Yamaha YDP, Motif, series keyboards , & don't have any problems with KAWAI MP8 , MP9000 , MP9500 . Casio make good improvements in their keyboards like PX-7WE , PX720, PX730 , PX830 , AP-6BP , their keiboards much better, than Yamaha P  & YDP series keys . Some Korg keyboards are good , but not too much polyphony (stealing notes). & of course Yamaha GranTouch (have at home) is perfect , but slightly different from real acoustic piano feel .  That's all .
