Topic: Sound Speed (What is it?)

After a few days of trying the demo I'm incredibly impressed with pianoteq and will probably buy.

Something I'm a little confused about is the "sound speed" control. I notice that it does effect the sound quite radically, but what I would like to know is a little bit more about what is exactly happening regarding the sound processing. For example, does it effect stereo image at all? And what are the distinctions in the way it functions with the differences between the mic, the binaural and the stereo set ups?

Any information will be welcomed.

Re: Sound Speed (What is it?)

Basically it's sound speed in a medium. The default value is 340 ms (sound speed in air). The faster, the more presence you should obtain. This also influence phase shift of the sound  so using miking techniques the effect is more noticeable. Maybe programmer can be more precise than me..

Re: Sound Speed (What is it?)

Thanks etto.

So, it may help create a brighter tone when set to faster?

It would be good to know more about the influence on phase shifting and how the control effects it. Can anyone help?

Also, it would be interesting to know how other users may have used the control for achiveing specific kinds of sounds.
Cheers,
Ian

fulvia,

I think you've posed an interesting question. Does anyone have more specifics?
