Topic: hoarseness

Sometimes I feel like the sound in Pianoteq is is kind of ... hoarse... Maybe this is the same that some people call synthetic or lack of overtones, I don't know... I'm currently using Pianoteq Play and I actually like it a lot, but I don't know if theres a way to make Pianoteq to "clear the throat"...  ;-)

God Bless you!

Re: hoarseness

Try to clean the strings with a proper solvent.

Re: hoarseness

That would be a solution... But do you know any virtually emulated solvent?

Re: hoarseness

The limiter in Pianoteq is not very good ...turn it off, and turn the volume down to avoid distortion. You can fuss with the settings between dynamics/volume/limiter, etc. to find the sweet spot, but it might be easier for you to just use an external limiter.

Lately, I have been turning both the limiter and the reverb off so that I can use external processing...that seems to fix it for me.

Re: hoarseness

Thank You Johnrule!

Sometimes I think that the velocity curve makes the sound a little bit hoarse if it isn't totally right... If the velocity is little lower than I want it, it kind of give this effect... I don't know if its only I that feel like this or???

But to find the perfect velocity curve takes a lot of testing, and sometimes I don't know if I always want it the same way either...
