Topic: Anyone running Pianoteq inside Logic Express 9?

I would like to use Pianoteq 3.6.0 inside Logic Express 9.1.1 on a MacBook Pro but I cannot get started.
Pianoteq appears in the library search field but NOT on the instruments list below that field.
Hence the question: How to make Pianoteq appear on the instruments list?
I am using the German version of Logic Express, but I downloaded the English manual in addition.

Would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Re: Anyone running Pianoteq inside Logic Express 9?

It shouldn't be that difficult.

In "Inspector" don't use "Setting" to choose your instrument but "I/O". Then choose "AU instruments > Modartt > Pianoteq". If it's not there then you can check "Preferences" > "Audio Units Manager" and make some rescans etc. PTQ should be there and "Succesfully validated".

Hopefully this helps.

P.S: I'm using English version of Logic Studio 9 but I think Express is not different...

Re: Anyone running Pianoteq inside Logic Express 9?

You should use version 3.6.1 instead of 3.6.0 , it will be easier to use if you are running Logic in 64-bit

Re: Anyone running Pianoteq inside Logic Express 9?

No success yet.
To julien: Thank you. Version 3.6.1 installed.
To ecaroh: Thank you. Yet it seems that Logic Express does not correspond with Logic Pro. The I/O button in the left column of the inspector displays: Post-pan Post-fader, Pre-fader, No sound and Bus, but not "AU instruments > Modartt > Pianoteq" as you said it should.

Here what works with Logic Express 9:
When selecting Media, the Library opens and displays a window with two columns. When an instrument is chosen e.g. choir (left column) and then mixed choir (right column), this is automatically assigned to the selected channel strip and also to the inspector.
What NOT works:
When the “search library” is chosen, then Pianoteq shows up in this search window but not in the instruments’ list below. I assume that this is the reason why I cannot select Pianoteq as an active instrument. So the question is:
What is to do, so that Pianoteq appears in the instruments list in the same manner as the native instruments of Logic Express 9 do as in the example given above?

At the moment it would be of help if someone with the exact same configuration could give some advice.

Re: Anyone running Pianoteq inside Logic Express 9?

Something is missing here, cause I checked this with my Logic Express 8. (It shouldn't that different with Express 9)

So Express (8) works exactly like I described: Go to Inspector then I/O and first you see those Logic Instruments like EFM1, ES, EXS24 etc. and then Garageband instruments, AU generators and finaly AU instruments...

Re: Anyone running Pianoteq inside Logic Express 9?

Hello Glissando,

By chance have you created new software instrument tracks in Logic?  If you have otherwise chosen external midi tracks, you will never see the I/O fields at the left of your screen.  Try creating a new software instrument track, and then click on its window.  Then at the lower left hand of your screen you should now see all of the I/O fields described by others that you have not seen until now.

Hope this helps,

Joe

Success, it works
Many thanks, Ecaroh and Joe. I started a new project and then followed your advices. So for now I have no further questions.
