Topic: What about a Celesta model?

Has Modartt considered a celesta model?  I think it would be a great addition for orchestral users.  The vibes are very convincing to me. Is there an official place on the forum where new models are requested or announced?  Thanks for any info!  -Perry-

Re: What about a Celesta model?

A celesta is nice but I would love to have a Clavichord. To my knowledge there are nothing close to a Clavichord out there in the the world of samplers. Then the sound are perhaps even more complex than that of a piano I'd like to think Pianoteq is the software that can handle it. That should be a great challenge to the the Moddart team.

I think celesta wouldn't be hard to do. And I think Modartt would make it as good as vibes. Just hold your breath!

Hard work and guts!

What about the CL1 "Clavinet" add-on?  Personally, I think that the Clavinet is much more interesting (and flexible) than an "unamplified" clavichord.

Granted, a "real" clavichord would be a nice addition, for completeness' sake, but I'm happier that we have its "electric" brother first!  (I was playing it again last night, and I just love how the wah makes it "talk back" to me.  )

I've said before (somewhere deep, deep in these forums) that you can "fake" a pretty convincing celesta with the vibes -- BUT, having heard some excellent celesta recordings recently, I would have to say that a Pianoteq version of the "real" thing would be really cool!

And considering how successfully they copied the "church bells" from a few Easters back...

We can request new instruments here, but we only see them when MODARTT releases them.  They tend to keep any forthcoming "goodies" under tight wraps.

(I'll usually just click on the page and be surprised.)

I would rather call the Clavichord a grand-grand-grand-parent of the Clavinet than a brother :-) In fact it is one of the oldest keyboard instruments in history. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clavichord )
A subtle and expressive instrument very much loved by, among others, Bach and his sons. But never really made it to concert halls, because of it's extremely soft tone.

The clavichord would be a logical addition to the KIViR project. I think the museum where the harpsichords from the KIViR came from also owns one or more clavichords.

And then we will play "Superstition" on a Clavichord, and C.P.E. Bach sonatas on the Clavinet addon :-)

Yes, you are most correct, sir!

Yup, if any instrument ever BEGGED for amplification, then the clavichord would be first in line!

You know, someone just released a sampled clavichord library...  One of those Kontakt 4 deals.  I would definitely be interested, BUT I just know that if MODARTT tackled this instrument, then I would surely waste money now and then never play the sampled sucker again, once the Pianoteq model was released...

Indeed, full-circle happiness!!!
