Topic: Studiologic SL88GT - not recommended

Issues:
* Shallow rehit (only bottom most sensor is triggered) MIDI is hard-programmed to 10 - this feels almost as bad as "let-off simulation".
* Softer hits sometimes not detected at all - not related to sensor positions, random in nature and hard to reproduce - thus even more annoying.
* Depressing weight response curve:

Not a sensor/software issue, keys literally feel very uneven.

Pros:
* No let-off simulation.
* Slightly longer keys compared to VPC1.
* Keys, individually, feel good and well controllable.

which firmware version are you running at ?

Re: Studiologic SL88GT - not recommended

Nice visualisation, gasparka!
Would be nice to see the same with 500 g (which avoids most of the hidden variables) and with a standard velocity scale of 0 - 127. Could be interesting how it compares to other tests: https://forum.modartt.com/viewtopic.php...3#p1009873

For info, I have recently bought a SL MK2 73  with the Fatar TP100 action for travel as it is the shortest midi controller with hammer action in the market.   This shares the same firmware as the SL MK2 GT . Latest version is 1.1.3 .  Key action is excellent & repetition speed top notch .
I have recorded midi output with pianoteq on white and black keys specifically for repeated notes a while ago to check midi values and protocol used for repeated notes.

The post is here  https://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads...utput.html

Studiologic is using the same protocol as Kawai for repeated notes , when the key is moving  between a zone located about the middle sensor and bottom sensor without reaching the top sensor : The keyboard sends a series of note-on  during the repetition sequence  and when the key is released, a corresponding series of note-off is sent to clear any residual voice.   Velocity of repeated notes-on is calculated based on time travel between middle sensor and bottom sensor.

As you can see on the pictures attached , each repeated note has its own velocity .

It is important to make sure you upgrade the firmware version to the latest version via Numa Player .  When I got the brand new keyboard, it was not at the latest version.

PS: just for info , there is  no standard  midi protocol in midi 1.0 to deal with repeated notes. Each vendor implements its own. Kawai & Studiologic have the same logic . Roland uses a different method and sends a note-off with velocity =0  before re-triggering a new note-on.

Already returned the keyboard so no more tests possible. New unit from Thomann, I did not update the software.
About 500g - why would you avoid hidden variables of the action?

Please follow my upper link, it is described there in detail.
