Topic: No Discussions regarding 19th Chopin Competition?
Steinway for Chopin XIX
Probably what shocks me the most in this forum is the fact I haven't seen people discuss the pianos/recording technique from literally... any era of the Chopin Competittion. Maybe I haven't dug far enough or I'm still fairly new to pianoteq.
Back with better tweaks (it looks like my ears were the problem with my old presets which sounded horrid), I just did a little research on the mics used in the 19th Chopin competition. 2 Schoeps omnidirectional mics (guessing it's the MK2 capsule with CMC6 amp and RC1200 stand?) and 3 Omni's, where I chose the DPA 4006 mics as the best candidate to match the tone of the brodcast from the Chopin Institute.
As for EQ-ing, I did notice quite some boom in the bass from the brodcast, so I turned off proximity effect compensation and boosted the subbass to match even better. Slight adjustments in the middle to upper range, but nothing else too signifcant.
For the other adjustments, I cannot recall what else I've changed from the piano. I think that's enough explaining from me and it's time for some feedback. Enjoy.
