Topic: iPad users...what do you use for MIDI in/Audio out?

Hi. I've been using the Mac version of PT but would rather use iPad for convenience (playing only at home for myself, no recording etc). I have a iPad Pro M4 without a headphone jack and I'm curious about what others are using for MIDI in from keyboard and audio out to monitors.

Looking for something cheapish and there are various mini-hubs but I'm wondering if the DAC quality would be poor in something like this.

Thanks.

Re: iPad users...what do you use for MIDI in/Audio out?

I use an old focusrite scarlett who have midi din in and out and also midi usb. 2 stereo audio out.
In my country, there are tons of those soundcards on used website like leboncoin.
It's average 100euros, but it work very well.
I have 1.3ms latency with an ipad M1.
I like that this soundcard have 2 physical volumes pots, one for the speakers, one for the headphone.

Re: iPad users...what do you use for MIDI in/Audio out?

Hi, I went through exactly this a couple of weeks ago (iPad Pro, so same no-headphone-jack situation). What worked for me: small hub Satechi ST-HXR (you can find it on Amazon as "Mobile XR Hub With Audio") with 2×USB-C 10Gb/s ports, 3.5mm audio jack and a male USB-C plug on the hub itself that goes straight into the iPad. One usb port goes to my charger (the hub supports up to 100W passthrough), the other usb port goes to my controller. That way both the iPad and the keyboard get power, and the iPad sees the latter as a class-compliant USB MIDI device. Audio quality is decent with no noticeable latency. It works with my iPhone as well. I looked around quite a bit before landing on this and didn't find anything simpler/cheaper/with fewer cables. There's the Bluetooth MIDI route too, but it doesn't actually save you a cable - the controller still needs power from somewhere.
