Topic: Haydn: Day One from The Creation - Pianoteq with thunder pedal

To celebrate Pianoteq's 20th anniversary, I wanted to share this piece with you all.

I was trying to think of a piece that would suit the thunder pedal introduced in version 9.0.0—what do you think of this choice? Doesn't it feel like a great fit?

My CLP-875, which I use as a MIDI controller, only has a continuous sensor on the sustain pedal. Because of this, I assigned the thunder pedal to the sostenuto pedal and used MIDI mapping to cap its response at around 50%, which felt just right.

The instrument and preset I chose is one of my personal favorites:

Without Pianoteq, the second half of my life wouldn't have been nearly as rich. I'm truly grateful to Pianoteq and the Modartt team!

beautiful performance Triton.  i had not heard this piece by Haydn before and it suits the occasion perfectly

Nice tribute for the Modartt birthday!  What is a thunder pedal? I might have missed that feature.

Great choice of piece for celebrating Pianoteq’s 20th anniversary Triton!
The thunder pedal in version 9 adds such a unique dimension, and using it here fits the dramatic scope surprisingly well. Smart move remapping it to the sostenuto pedal and capping the response at 50%—that subtle control really keeps it from overpowering the mix while still delivering that deep impact. Also, the Petrof Mistral preset sounds stunningly authentic!

Hi Ken, thank you for your comment! I'm sure you already know what the Thunder pedal is, but just in case—according to the online manual, “Thunder Pedal let you strike the keys with superhuman strength.”

Hi Carmelo, thank you for your comment! I'm glad you liked how I used the Thunder pedal. Once I started exploring Pianoteq's various pedal features, it made me want to get an external continuous pedal
