Topic: PT9 - Ruckers II Harpsichord - Bach: Praeludium F-dur BWV 927

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was an outstanding German composer and organist of the Baroque period. He served as an organist in Arnstadt and Mühlhausen and, beginning in 1708, as court organist and chamber musician in Weimar. Starting in 1717, he worked as court Kapellmeister in Köthen. During this time, he composed significant works such as the Brandenburg Concertos. Beginning in 1723, he served as Thomaskantor in Leipzig. In this role, he was responsible for the church music of the city’s most important churches, directed the Collegium Musicum, and composed many of his famous vocal works, such as the Christmas Oratorio.
Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prelude in F major, BWV 927, is a lively composition from around 1720–1722 and appears in the Little Book of Piano Pieces for Wilhelm Friedmann Bach, Bach’s eldest son. The short piece is in 2/4 time and is characterized by its flowing movement, in which the treble and bass alternate in a lively dialogue. The entire piece remains consistently in F major without any significant modulations to other keys.

And, what a coincidence — I’ve played 927 too, and strangely enough, at almost the same tempo as you! And the same Ruckers, though the sound is different because of my keyboard’s velocity curve — it’s so hard to get right; it’s an old keyboard.

You have a soft nice sound and well played. Well done Unruh.
