Topic: OT2 - Romantic Cathedral - Hölting: Tick, tack

Max Hölting (1874–1950) was a church musician and composer who worked within the New Apostolic Church (NAC). Max Hölting lived in Berlin (Germany) for many years. He composed numerous sacred choral works and organ pieces, which are still performed today in church services and concerts.

Max Hölting’s composition for mixed choir, “Mahnung (Tick tack, tick tack goes the clock),” is a reflection on the transience of human life. Max Hölting uses the ticking of a clock as a central motif to convey to the listener the reality of their own mortality. With the words “Soon it will be a holiday,” the composer ultimately leads the listener toward the hope of eternal salvation in Jesus Christ.

Beautiful music. I like it. And good registrations, I love the change in sound from 0,45 - perfect choice!

Didn’t know about this composer either. Thanks, nice to learn new things.

Became interested and also read, incredibly, that despite his visual impairment, he was active as a musician, conductor, and composer. He led the choir at the Moon Association for the BLIND (Moon’scher Blindenverein) and gave lectures for the BLIND. He lived in the association's housing for the BLIND. Helping blind people - What a great man.
