Topic: Air Mail Special (Pianoteq)

here's kind of a strange take on a very old tune by Charlie Christian, "Air Mail Special." when i was looking at this it started to feel very much like it could have been written by Ornette Coleman, so that's the direction i took it in.  for me this standard seems a lot more radical than one might expect.

My first thought was: what will come of this? Then, from the 2:43 section, it became very interesting and exciting.
Budo, this is where we hear you at your best.

A masterfully played improvisation on Pianoteq, I mean,  this is the act of spontaneously creating beautiful, structurally sound, and emotionally compelling music in real-time. It is essentially like composing a brand-new, polished song on the spot.

I think improvisation is kind of real-time composition, you act as both composer and performer, and I always feel you have an intuitive, muscle-memory understanding of scales, chords, and intervals, allowing your hands to navigate the keyboard on autopilot.

Many thanks again for this moment.

Best wishes,

Stig

Wow, this is an incredible take Budo! I never thought about 'Air Mail Special' through an Ornette Coleman lens, but hearing you play it, it makes total sense. You really brought out that hidden, radical energy.
Masterfully played!
Carmelo
