Topic: Children of the Night (Pianoteq)

here's another track i recorded recently, Wayne Shorter's "Children of the Night." i was mostly inspired by the recording by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, which is the version i know the best.  in some ways it's a less out-there tune by Wayne, but there are still some characteristic features of his stuff there.

This sounds amazing Budo! 'Children of the Night' is such a deep track, and your arrangement captures its mood perfectly. The rhythm and flow feel incredibly natural, and you really brought out the best of that Art Blakey-inspired energy. Masterfully played!

thank you once again Carmelo!  i'm so glad you enjoyed it.  i'm happy that you got some of Art Blakey's energy out of it, he was a monster!

Budo -  incredible feel and harmony. It’s a bit of ”deep-water musicianship”.
High level of technical mastery, and improvisational fluidity!

This is really playing with profound intuition rather than just reading sheet music - without losing the thread of the composition.

And, as a contrast to your ”wild flow”,  I love the enjoyable slow ending too, from 3,20 - end

Best wishes,

Stig
