Topic: Pee Wee (Pianoteq)

i got to spend some quality time at a beach this week so things are much more copacetic in my world.  here's one of the most beautiful tunes in the book, Tony William's "Pee Wee" from Miles's Sorcerer album.  interestingly Miles sat out on this tune, it's just Wayne, Herbie, Ron, and Tony.  i've always loved the harmony in this tune.  it really drifts all over the place.

Beautiful!   ”You said you have always loved the harmony in this tune.  it really drifts all over the place”.

Yes, I love it, but there are moments of relaxation too, altered scale, chord…. I don’t know these fantastic chords, but I can hear them - this jazz masterpiece, its harmony, form, and emotional character, it can probably  learn master musicians like you about jazz composition.

I like the first 3 minutes, slow and enjoyable, from 3,00 about its going slowly all over the place, some forte, some peaceful. Ending last 9 seconds fits well as an ending - like the beginning, peaceful.

This was a gem. Thank you budo for your performance. You have a high level of technical proficiency, artistic expression, and complete control over the instrument, allowing you to perform pieces like this with ease and emotional depth. One can really hear that you like this harmony.
Wow those chords…..

Thank you budo again. You are my idol.

Best wishes,

Stig

Beautifully played Budo!
The harmony in this tune is so fascinating, and you really brought out that drifting, dreamlike quality of Tony Williams' composition. It takes great touch to pull off a solo version of this—wonderful job!

thank you so much J. Unruh!  the harmony in this tune is so crazy it's hard to know even what it is at times.  that is what a lot of the music of Miles's quintet was like.  the lead sheet is just one of many possible approximations to what those guys were doing
