Topic: CLAVICEMBALO :: Frescobaldi: „Toccata avanti il Ricercare”

In this recording, I combined a Grimaldi harpsichord (PIANOTEQ) with an organ. In the middle section, both instruments play simultaneously. This combination was found in bygone centuries (and in modern copies of period instruments) under the name CLAVICEMBALO, where one keyboard operated a stringed harpsichord and the other a piped four-foot positive organ. The sounds from both keyboards could be combined.

Fascinating blend of sounds Piotr!
The combination of the Grimaldi harpsichord patch with the organ creates a really unique and rich texture, especially in that middle section. It’s wonderful to see the historical concept of the clavicembalo organizzato brought into a modern digital setup.
Masterfully played!
