Topic: Bach Sinfonia n 9 in F minor BWV 795 Pianoteq 9

Dear Friends,

The Sinfonia n 9 in F minor BWV 795 is undoubtedly one of J.S. Bach masterpieces and it's by far the best known of the 3-part symphonies. The heart of the piece is a relentless, weary melancholy created by a descending chromatic bass line in counterpoint with a sigh motif.
Motivic, based on two tiny motifs:
1. The “lament bass,” a descending chromatic figure, familiar from
Baroque opera and cantata and associated with grieving. Bach uses
this motif in his cantata, “Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Sagen”and the “Crucifixus” of his Mass in B
minor.
2. The “sigh” motif: ascending third and descending step.

Enjoy your listening Bach from Italy

I love the pervading melancholy throughout this lovely sinfonia!
Your performance was very sensitive and carefully planned out with voices and motives being very clear and transparent!
Wonderful Job !!!

Ah, this Sinfonia is special (in a good way). I feel this one like a mysterious corridor (more than something melancholic, to me). You are in another dimension with it !

Wonderful performance carmelo! The right tempo (not too fast as many play it) and I felt you play with deep thought and soft sadness. My feeling.
What a Masterpiece and Master playing!
Thank you carmelo.

Best wishes,

Stig
