Better resolution for Wah pedal control?

Is there any way in the Pianoteq software to smooth out the 128 steps for controlling wah pedals over midi?
I'm mainly looking at pianoteq as a way to get good clavinet and pianet sounds on stage.

So far using midi to control the wah pedal frequency has been too steppy or zippered  sounding, is it possible to smooth this or somehow use 14 bit msb lsb messages?
I would like to avoid using external effects, but if needed I can just use an effects modeler unit I am currently using for my Pianet.
