Topic: D4 Daily Practice Equivalent

I have a project that used the Pianoteq v5 D4 Daily Practice preset almost 10 years ago. I cannot find that preset in v9. Was it renamed? If it was removed is there an equivalent?

Re: D4 Daily Practice Equivalent

Just a guess, the preset named "Model D" should be +/- adequate.

You can download the D4v4 from the legacy instruments: https://www.modartt.com/pianoteq_legacy
Hope it helps

Re: D4 Daily Practice Equivalent

Google AI:

The direct successor: Use Steinway Model D Hamburg – Home. It follows the same philosophy: a balanced, clear sound for daily practice without excessive reverb.
The technical base: The old "D4" from version 5 was replaced in newer versions by the officially licensed Steinway Model D, which sounds significantly more realistic and full-bodied.
Best alternative: If you prefer the pianist's perspective (similar to the old Daily Practice), try the preset Steinway Model D Hamburg – Player.
Adjustment for "V5 feeling": To simulate the slightly "woodier" character of the older version, set the Condition slider in version 9 to approximately 0.15 to 0.30.

Thanks very much for that info. I checked the link and it says D4v4.ptq requires v5 Classic Grand Piano. I don't think Classic Grand Piano exists in v9 as I cannot see it.

Thank you. That's very helpful. That was exactly what I was finding is that the old D4 Daily Practice was more woody which is what I need for this project. On first initial listen the Steinway Model D Hamburg – Player may get me close enough. I will play with the condition slider too.

The message may look a bit confusing indeed, it says" requires version 5.0 - Classic grand piano" which means it requires at least version 5 (so it will work in v9) and that it is a Classical grand piano. Just download and drop on the UI and it will work.
