Topic: Autumn Leaves (Pianoteq)

here's one of the great warhorses from the book, "Autumn Leaves."  this is the third recording i've done on YT of this tune, it seems like there's always more to figure out with it.  in this one i was trying to feature the polyphonic feel.

Budo, this, sounds great. You’re awesome my friend.
Thanks. This makes my day!

This is different and improvisational and unique. Different from the two earlier recordings. I remember ( and we talked about Terrance Shider).
I can’t say which one is best, they all are 3 amazing. As always.
This might be the best because of the polyphonic feel…

Wow! Budo featuring multiple independent melodic lines played simultaneously.  Music  like Bach’s music is definitively polyphonic. His work balances strict, rule-based composition with expressive, singing melodic lines. Nice that you give it a try!!

I can hear that, feel that, you are trying to feature the polyphonic feel. !,10…..     2,40………  3v. 520-?…………..5,23 -  540.  well, sections here and there..

Wonderful ending.

Thank you budo.

Best wishes.

Stig

Really cool ! You've got a "Mehldau approach" on this one (to my ears). I can imagine the trio version.

Re: Autumn Leaves (Pianoteq)

Hi again budo. Couldn't help but try something with the song but it was difficult. Some sections were inspired by Terrance Shider anyway....

edit.

I listened to Jordan Rudess, 10 lessons, and one important thing, he said, let it flow - don’t stop. So I tried here to let it flow from chord to chord.

(Jordan Rudess, renowned keyboardist for Dream Theater and trained at The Juilliard School, focuses on blending classical technique with modern, progressive rock, and electronic elements. His teaching emphasizes technical precision, advanced harmonic understanding, and innovative technology)

thank you so much Stig for your comments.  yes I remember that we discussed Terrence Shider because i had never heard of him before.  he's a great player with a lot of interesting things going on.  i'm also glad that you enjoyed the other versions too.  it's one of the most-played tunes of all time for some reason so it's always worth trying a new thing with it

thank you so much Borealis.  of course Big Brad is one of my idols so it's very kind of you to say that.  a trio version would be awesome, just missing 2 of the 3 people right now
