Topic: Kawai VPC1 with an ipad

I’m new to the forum. I am looking to buy a Kawai VPC1 piano controller and want to confirm that it will operate with pianoteq on an iPad. I already have an apple lightning camera adaptor but believe that I need a powered usb hub in addition to provide sufficient power to the VPC1. I presumed that the ac adaptor that comes with the piano would do the job but have read that this isn’t the case. Can anyone confirm the correct way to do this?
I have an iPad 9th generation with a headphone output for audio.

Many Thanks
Richard

Re: Kawai VPC1 with an ipad

I have an ipad and a VPC1. And it's working perfectly.
I use the power adaptator on the VPC1 but I never try without, maybe it's working with just the power of the ipad?

If it will work with the power adaptor then it saves having to purchase a powered usb hub. I assume you connect the usb lead from the vpc1 to the apple camera adaptor and then to the iPad lightning port ?

Re: Kawai VPC1 with an ipad

I have a midi soundcard with midi din, so i connect the ipad to the vpc1 with the midi din to save one usb on my hub because i have other midi device.
But I just tested now and the vpc1 is perfectly ok with the usb midi. I go to setting and activate usb midi.
I don't have the apple camera adaptator because my ipad is usb c directly.
But a powered usb hub is better because you charge the ipad at the same time, you can let it always connect, it's pratical.
