Topic: New Bach Video - Invention n 13 in A minor BWV 784

Dear Friends,

Last video of the year this one!
Bach invention n 13 in A minor BWV 784  is another example of Bach's frequent use of the simple triad as subject matter.
Spitta attributes to this piece the character of a prelude, "because the subjects and the workings-out alike move almost exclusively in harmonic passages.
Enjoy your listening & Greetings from Italy

I can think this is hard on the weakest fingers of both hands?

Vey good interpretation. Is it soft, is it calm calm, is it emotional? I think it is all of them at the same time - Carmelo you are a treasure.
And I think you are not playing staccato, not legato - it is flawlessly played Bach notes. Thank you for sharing.
I hope you continue 2026

Happy New Year!

Best wishes,

Stig

Bach wrote his pieces so they could be played on any instrument.

Here I play this two-part invention on the organ and have added a pedal part as my feet were bored dangling doing nothing.

You're right, each of us has played this piece at least once in our lives... undoubtedly the best of Bach's Inventions.

There's a lot of stuff brewing in 2026.
My wish list for this year includes:
- Finish Bach's Two-Part Inventions;
- Study and record all 15 Bach Symphonies 3 parts;
- Study and record the entire WTC 2...
It's a truly ambitious program, and I don't know if I'll be able to complete it—who knows... I'll give it my all, as usual.
Greetings from Italy
