Topic: Pianoteq 9 setting up multichannels

I use Focusrite 4i4 with four output channels.

Attempting to assign channels to mic output doesnt seem to work or isn't even an option.

How can I assign a mic to output to channel 3 exclusively...and another mic to output to channel 4 only?

Thanks in advance.  Ive tried 100 different ways and nothing seems to work.  Sound sent to channels 1 and 2 are going to channels 3 and 4.  I want to be able to assign the U4 to channels 3 and 4 and assign Steinway to channels 1 and 2.

Thanks in advance!

First thing, have you checked at Options | Devices | Active output channels to be sure all four output channels are enabled? Also, when more than two outputs are enabled, there’s a button to the right of that section that toggles Stereo or Multi-out; be sure it shows Multi-out.

Then, in the microphones section for an instrument, you can right-click Mixed Output at the right and select Add New Output. If you have layers, you can do that independently for each layer by selecting which layer to edit in the Layers panel.

From there you can probably guess what to do. I don’t have a second pair of outputs hooked up to anything, so I can’t experiment in too much detail, but that seems to enable what you want.

Usually output to a Focusrite interface requires some pre-configuring within Focusrite software.  Do you make all the needed outputs available beforehand, but specifically inside Focusrite Control 2?

This as a first step, before you go to PIANOTEQ is likely crucial.
