Topic: J.S. Bach: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, BWV 645 / Organteq2

Happy New Year, everyone.

On January 1, 2026, I decided to take on a new challenge and would like to share the result with you. It is nothing particularly unusual, as many people do this, but it was my first time trying multitrack recording.

I love Organteq as much as Pianoteq, but since I do not have an organ console and only own a digital piano, until now I have mainly played pieces that can be performed on a single manual, such as works from The Well-Tempered Clavier.

This time, for the first time, I tried recording a piece written for two manuals and pedal using multitracking. I hope you will enjoy listening to it.

beautiful rendition of this chorale, which has always been one of my favorites.  if you want to try it on piano there are lovely transcriptions by Busoni and Kempff of this (and some other Bach organ pieces) ... perhaps you have already tried them ...

Yes, I actually have the scores for both the Busoni and Kempff transcriptions and have tried them out.
They’re on my list of pieces I’d love to play someday, but I’m not sure when that will be.

they are indeed very challenging.  by the way i don't know if you are interested, but Busoni wrote a long essay about how to prepare transcriptions of Bach's organ works.  it's very fascinating to read.  it appeared as a supplement to his edition of WTC 1.  supposedly this link will take you to it:

I’ve seen the Busoni edition of the WTC in music stores before, but I wasn’t aware of the supplement. From a quick glance, it looks like there’s a lot of interesting content in it. My eyesight isn’t very good, so it may take me a little time to read it in detail, but I’m looking forward to doing so.
