Topic: black friday discounts?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been using Pianoteq STD for a couple of weeks now. I’ve got the Kawai, Blüthner, and Petrof models, and I’m already thinking about expanding my sound palette — it’s amazing how different they all sound!

It’s funny how one day you wake up and the Kawai feels like the only one that really matters, but then later in the afternoon you change your repertoire and suddenly it’s the Petrof or the Blüthner that steals the show. It’s such a huge privilege to be able to switch instruments so easily — even if it’s just a simulation, it’s the closest thing we pianists can get to the real experience. I’m actually a bit jealous of my friends who play guitar and have a bunch of guitars, lutes, and theorboes at home without being millionaires!

I’m really tempted by the Steingraeber and the Steinway B, and I’d also like to try the PRO version features. I was thinking of waiting a bit in case there are any Black Friday discounts — those usually happen at the end of November, right?

Thanks to everyone at Modartt, you’re doing an outstanding job. It’s incredible what physical modeling can achieve. I actually laugh at sampled instruments (and I do use samplers a lot, but mostly for creative or crazy stuff)

Re: black friday discounts?

Last year it was 27-11-2024 on Modartt; the holiday itself in the U.S.A. (by example) was 29-11-2024. Then, maybe this year it could be November 26, 2025, on Modartt (November 28 in the USA).

I did the Pro last year. Love it.

Looks like individual instrument packs are $40... or... I could upgrade to Studio for just over $400. Gotta give that one some thought, tempting.

Re: black friday discounts?

Is the discount only available for the desktop version? The sale prices are NOT shown when inside the order page within Pteq app.
If available, how is the discount done for the IOS version?
I’m only able to use Pteq on my iPads, my older Win/Linux dual boot laptop doesn’t handle it very well.

EDITED TO ADD. ….I don’t want to purchase a discounted Pteq Std from the Modart website only to discover that the license is only valid for the desktop version that I can’t use.

……..Can anyone provide any insight. I’ve been using the demo versions since early September waiting for the BF sale. Thanks, Jeff

Re: black friday discounts?

Hey guys,

So... I'm brand new to Pianoteq and had been watching the site for any sign of a Black Friday deals, I hadn't seen any indication there would be one at all, and I literally just went and paid full price for Pianoteq Standard and 2 pianos yesterday... then i get an email through today with 20% off everything.. urgh.. absolute worst timing as a new buyer.. I'd checked the full site for any sign of a sale as well.

So I've emailed support to ask if they would please forgive my timing mishap and apply the 20% Black-Friday discount.

I'm hoping so, or at least give me a free upgrade or something.. I'll let you know how I get on.

thanks
Scott

Re: black friday discounts?

Hello, I was hoping for some kind of discount on the stage version. I know it's worth every penny without a discount, but I think it's very rude of them not to include one, and for that reason alone I'm going to think twice about whether to add it to my library or treat myself to another VST instead.
Best regards

I've not seen Stage discounted before so I wasn't surprised it wasn't in the current deal. As you say, that would have been great and I'd have been tempted.

As it is, I've just bought the Standard version with the 20% discount. Given that Pianoteq 9 has only recently been released, it's a nice bonus.

I also admire Modartt for offering such a comprehensive demo version. I've been using this on and off for a couple of months and it certainly helps me feel confident that I'm buying something I will use and enjoy.

Of course you are going to make your decisions based on what is best for you, but take in mind that there are some fixed business costs (e.g. money transaction, website and download fees, user support, legal and financial consulting, etc) which make it unproductive to reduce the price below a certain amount, and I think the price for the Stage version is that amount. So I agree it's unfortunate, but don't think it's "rude". If you really can't afford to spring for the Standard version even at the discounted level, considered buying used (which not all software companies allow, that's another benefit of purchasing from Modartt rather than those annoying iLok-based competitors, lol)

I agree,  it was very very disappointing that moddart has not included the Stage version, I'm sure lot of people would be interested in buying the Stage with 20% discount.

This is not fair at all.

I was ready to buy the stage, but now I feel fooled.

I had similar concerns but a slightly different situation. What I did was I purchased the upgrade from PTQ8 to PTQ9 (Stage version) on the Modartt website, and (separately) the Electric Pianos instrument pack. I was then able to download and license both of these on my PC and on my iPad. It’s not quite the same as you, but it did work for me in similar circumstances. After you’ve done the transaction, it’s all done through “restore purchases” or “update licence”.

Edit: obviously I owned PTQ8 Stage already.

Yes I was debating about that option, what do you suggest? I am mainly interested in something i can play quickly for practicing on my vpc1

Is this a legitamate re-seller of Pteq? How does the licensing work? Does it come thru\from JRR or Mozart?

Also, I just looked further down on the JRRShop-Pteq page, It only mentions MAC and Windows, not a word about IOS versions. Which take me back to my original question above, does this sale cover IOS versions or just desktop versions? I’m only using the ipadOS version.

Yes they’ve been around for ages. I bought from them my update from stage to standard during the last sale. You get a key that you register on the Modartt site.

The standard version gives you 3 packs but most importantly allows to tweak important parameters. Stage always felt constrained to me.

$180 is a great price for all that.

You can just buy it and you don’t need to pick all 3 packs immediately.

You can even leave it in demo mode until you figure out what packs you like most.

Then enable 1-2 and perhaps keep one in reserve for when they release a new model.

There’s no separate purchase for any platform. One license allows up to 3 devices. Any 3 devices.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. What confused me was that I thought the IOS version was considered a separate product and possibly not available for BF sale pricing. Maybe I mis-read something.  Thanks again.

Re: black friday discounts?

Well, any three devices… not exactly: Apple mobile devices count as a single one, as long as they share the same Apple ID

Re: black friday discounts?

Where on the Modartt site do you enter the “key” that you get from JRRshop after purchase ?

…..I don’t have a Modartt account yet and it appears you can’t register for the account without the product S/N.

Does the JRRshop method only work if you already have a previous Modartt product and acount?

Is the “key” that JRR sends you what Modartt refers to as the S/N? I thought Modartt issues the S/N on purchase from them (Modartt)

Sorry to be so dim on this. I’m really surprised Modartt allows a third party sale at even further discounted pricing.

Re: black friday discounts?

Wow, I think my comment has sparked more interest than I expected.
I still believe that the Stage version is worth every dollar it costs, and I stand by my opinion that, for cost reasons, it cannot be sold below a certain price. I think this is a valid observation.
Perhaps the word “rude” was not the best translation, as my native language is not English. In any case, I think Piqnoteq is excellent, and I agree that its trial version is fantastic. I love its pianos. Best regards.

Hi everyone!
Since I see JRRshop mentioned here, I would like to ask a license question: I own Pianoteq 8 Stage (using it on iOS), can I buy a "Stage to Standard 9" license upgrade on JRRshop and get at the same time the upgrade to version 9 and the license upgrade from Stage to Standard?

Thanks!

In my case I bought from them the stage to standard upgrade (8->8) before 9 was out. When 9 came out I got 9 for free.

In this case I’d say call support and see what would happen

I want to get the Standard version from JRRshop with its available discounts, I have NO previous Pteq license, and I will only be using this on IOS.
Typically, IOS apps are all purchased directly thru Apple, but the only was to do that is to buy the full price Stage version and then upgrade from there.

dikrek….. When you say above…. “You get a key that you register on the Modartt site.”

When I go to Modartt to register for an account, you have to provide a S/N. Are the ‘key’ and S/N the same?

If yes, then I assume I would go to Modartt and create an account and register Pteq.
After that….back into the Pteq app under ‘Options’ and select RESTORE PURCHASES and then “Perform a free purchase” to activate it as per Modartt’s Activation help page?
Does this sound correct?
The last thing I want do is make a purchase from JRR only to discover it can’t be activated on my IOS device because of some technicality, or without several days of emails with Modartt to correct, before I have active product.
Thanks
