Topic: Preset suggestions: More presets like "al la Monk"

Pianoteq piano presets are generally excellent. I generally gravitate towards one or 2 presets for each piano (usually the original one). But one of the presets that stand out in being full of character is the U4 "al la Monk". I feel that it is excellent and does capture the sound of the piano in various Thelonious Monk recordings.

A long the same lines, there are several performers whose piano sounds are distinct, pleasing and maybe good to capture as a Pianoteq preset, some came to mind:

al la Horowitz?
al la Gould?
al la Evans?

Basically, the idea is to capture the piano sound, not of a particular piano, but of a particular iconic piano recording. There are probably a lot more, but to me it will be something very interesting to consider as presets.

Hello lo134,
Very nice idea. I agree with you. To capture the sound, not a particular piano.

I like U4 too, preset Tall. With some modifications some years ago, I got it to sound/captured the sound  like an upright Hellas B2 in Finland (think they don't make them anymore). Anyway bought it to a school 1971 and to another school 1980. Still in use. There are sounds we never forget.
Btw, I'm working on the Contest piece

Best wishes,

Stig

I really love U4, as it is not as perfect as the grands, but I found myself playing the most of the time with them. "A la Monk" is my favourite!!! What about a Belarus upright???!!! Or an American spinet of the old days??? These would be perfect presets (and free of loyalties), but made by Modartt. They know how to copy a piano's character.

al la Monk is also one of my favorites! It inspired me to rummage through the garage for my old Blue Note CDs... and then buy a CD player. I could have just streamed it but, you know, nostalgia.
