Topic: Seascape 1 - Steingraeber Warm, Pianoteq 9

I composed this shortly after treatment for cancer which mostly affected my nerves. My right hand could (barely) play chords, so it was an opportunity to try to develop my left hand (I'm right-handed, so mostly ignored the left hand previously). The cancer has been in remission for 10 years now, so am grateful for that.

I really like the piece you improvised, and I was deeply touched by your story.
Music gives us great comfort and often the strength to face dark times. I've seen your technique; I'm sorry for the damage you suffered after chemo. But believe me, if you hadn't written it, we would never have noticed.
Greetings from Italy & I wish you always the best of health.

Hello Steve!

I’m so glad you are back in the forum, uploading your wonderful and unique music. Sounds so good. I have always liked your own style. How you use chord progression.

One of your favorite sayings is, "you're either having a good time, or learning a good lesson - so, how is it with your nerve sheaths you were talking about…..you are playing very well now.I hope everything in life is going better, wish you my best.
I myself am not in the best shape anymore. Skinny, and  tired all the time....low weight...

Actually, the more I listen to this piece the more i like it (and don’t feeling so tired) Thank you Steve for sharing. Would be nice to listen to more.Always enjoy your music.
And how is it going with Organteq 2? Any uploads yet?

Best wishes

Your friend
Stig

Carmelo, thanks.
The doctor told me it might take years (and maybe not within my lifetime) to regain some hand and finger dexterity, because nerves are notoriously slow to heal. But music has been an interest and passion for my entire life, so I figured at least playing piano would be good physical therapy for my fingers, hand and arm. Now after 10 years the nerves are still numb and tingly, but a good portion of movement has returned, so I'm grateful.

Hi Stig. Nice to hear from you.
I love Organteq, but although I now have a nice two-manual organ keyboard and a full 32-note MIDI pedalboard, they get very little use. I'm so old that it is very uncomfortable to sit on the wooden organ bench for long (I don't have nearly as much "natural padding" on my body as I did when I was younger). So I spend most of my music time at the piano on a nice padded seat. It's a pity because the organ is a beautiful and versatile instrument, and Organteq is such a fine organ model. Every time I hear one of the organ pieces you post it makes me want to sit at the organ despite the discomfort and play something.
