Topic: The Sound Of Silence

My, how time flies.... what with work & all, it's been awhile since I've posted... but I've not been totally idle on the keys, as I've got things lined up to have a new single release each week for the next several weeks in a row...

I started this series of releases with "The Sound Of Silence" (Simon & Garfunkel), as this song has always spoken deeply to me, and even more so in recent months...

I have rendered this piece using the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Classical Recording preset. I think this fits the dynamic variations well in that it can be soft and sweet or loud and biting and resonant when the music calls for it. The Kawai is my one of my top go-to presets these days—I fell in love with it from moment one!

Mastering Chain using Logic Pro:
PianoTeq 8.4 (modified Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Classical Recording, 60db, no reverb, key release -8db, pedal -10db, .32 condition)
Compressor (Vintage VCA, -40db threshold, 1.3 ratio, 0.7 knee, 26ms attack, 48ms release, -12db auto gain)
Quantec Room Simulator (Based on one of the QRS Classics Concert Halls, IIRC, Quantec YardStick, 1.6s, 10^4 m^3 room size, dry 0db, reverb delay 100ms, 1st reflection -26db, reverb level -12db)
Linear EQ (Low Cut 50hz)
Normalized to -1db

Beautiful!  Kerri, you are so expressive! It seems like you deepley connects with every single note you play.
You have now so many beautiful music pieces here in the forum, like a” symphony of colours”. I like everyone. You’re truly a gem—there’s nobody like you.
And the sound you get from Kawai is amazing. It is absolutely Modartt’s best piano so far. I like it too.

I wish you happiness and success with your single realeases

I agree -- the Kawai is amazing... it's almost always my daily driver (although I do switch to others here and there depending on what I'm working on). Given how each of Modartt's pianos has only sounded better and better over time, I can only imagine what their next one might be like!

Thanks for your kind words as well -- I really appreciate your comments.

Cheers,
~Kerri
