Topic: New video Bach Fugue n 20 in A minor BWV 865

Dear friends,

Instead of introducing this  piece of Bach's WTC1 as usual, I take this opportunity to dedicate and thank all the friends I found in this forum.
Especially those who had the desire to listen to my pieces, particularry those who commented: Pianoenthusiast, DEZ, Organtangente, Budo, Unruh...
Guys without your support I would never have gotten to this point 20 Preludes and fugues... a long way to go....
Enjoy your listening.

My actual setting is:

Played on Yamaha P125 piano stage                                          Video Recording Samsung Galaxy A54.
VST: Hamburg Steinway D Pianoteq Stage 8.4.0

carmelo - Great, Glorious interpretation!

This looks quite difficult the way your fingers and hands are moving all over the place. This must be one of the longest fugues in the set. And a very difficult one too. I’m impressed by the complexity of the fugue and how well you play it.

There is the lowest tone in bass at about 4,27 that stay long, might not hear it to the end…
It suddenly gave me a crazy idea, I could try to play this with Organteq, then the note(s) are heard in certain positions longer. I might give it a try or not, but in that case much slower than your tempo.

Keep going carmelo, some pieces left and you have reached your goal

Best wishes,

Stig

Thank you so much for your comment and support Stig!
You are right this is perhaps the most difficult fugue of the 2 books of the WTC. It is thought to have been conceived for organ rather than harpsichord because there are several parts with held notes in the bass...  without a doubt an Organteq version would be fantastic !

Thank you so much for your comment Budo !!
A year ago when I started this adventure I probably would have said the same about this Fugue.... It was really hard but with a bit of work we put it in my bag.

Wow! I was enraptured for the entire performance--wonderfully done. I was quite taken by your solution to the number of pages!!! I will typically use an iPad for my sheet music, but in this case I think one would be hard pressed to find a good place for page changes.

Cheers,

Thank you so much KerriS for your comment and your support ! I know that there are systems to transfer scores to an iPad that with Bluetooth pedals can become very convenient for reading the songs... I should probably get an iPad with a screen large enough, at least 13', to be able to see the score well... This means that I used is very arranged and funny but it worked...

Excellent job!

Very transparent modulation and independent presentation of every single voice. That's what fugues are all about but it's the hardest part of it.

You nailed it expertedly...
