Topic: Chick Corea (Children's Songs) and Friedrich Gulda (Play Piano Play)

Chick Corea wrote a series of pieces called "Children's Songs". No. 4 is somewhat like minimal music and has a mysterious atmosphere.

Friedrich Gulda is my hero!
He wrote 10 pieces for his wife, Yuko. In some pieces like No. 3 there are only chord names for the left hand, so I can't play pieces like that. No.1 is written in a classical style.

Speaking of Gulda, Bösendorfer immediately comes to mind — even though he didn’t always play on one. So I gave it a try on a Bösendorfer myself.

Unfortunately, I can't play jazz myself, so performing these pieces is my attempt to broaden my world.

Chick Corea - I agree, has a mysterious atmosphere, indeed. You play it well.

It reminds me of music I made in 2020, where I play in the same style, but with my right hand, what you play with your left.

Gulda - You say you can’t play jazz?? Well, here you perform jazz, it is, sounds very nice. Bravo! It is almost a bit like budo play jazz.

I read that In 1956, Gulda performed and recorded in New York City and at the Newport jazzfestival. He organized the International Competition for Modern Jazz in 1966…. so obviously, apparently, he could play/record both classical and jazz. Interesting.

Also, thank you for sharing your performance — it’s very interesting! Of course, your rendition of In Dulci Jubilo, which you posted in reply to budo, is wonderful as well. I’m always impressed by your registration (orchestration).

There are other pieces by Gulda that I’d like to try, too. But of course, Gulda’s own performances are simply the best — he does something different every time he plays. If only I had that kind of freedom!

great job with these!  i've played some of the Children's Songs but not this one.  loved it!  i hope you will continue to do music like this.

A really tasty and funny piece Triton. I can't play Jazz either, but I really envy those who with a few bars and chords can improvise wonders like Budo.
