Topic: Windows 11 crashing when midi is disconnected

Hello,
I use pianoteq alternately on a Windows PC and on an iPad. I have installed a USB switch (for midi keyboard and audio interface) that allows me to choose pc or iPad. Everything works fine to play with but if I am on Windows and I switch before stopping pianoteq the PC crashes systematically (blue screen). When I play on the iPad and I switch the midi simply disconnects without crashing and reconnects when I switch again. I would like the same thing to work with Windows. Are you familiar with this problem?

Disons que ça ne me surprend pas tellement... la gestion de l'USB par Win 11 n'est pas meilleure que celle Windows 10, c'est un euphémisme; je crains qu'il n'y ait pas de solution élégante à ce souci; j'espère néanmoins me tromper, peut-être qu'en farfouillant dans les options USB ?

Let's just say it doesn't surprise me that much... Win 11's USB management is no better than Windows 10's, to put it mildly; I'm afraid there's no elegant solution to this problem; I hope I'm wrong, though, perhaps by poking around in the USB options?

Vous avez sans doute raison, cependant lorsque j'utilise pianoteq au sein d'un daw je n'ai pas de plantage, ni du logiciel, ni du PC lorsque je fais la même chose. Il semble que le standalone supporte mal une déconnexion midi USB.

You're probably right, but when I use pianoteq in a daw I don't get any crashes, either in the software or in the PC when I do the same thing. It seems that the standalone doesn't support USB midi disconnection very well.

Après divers tests il semble que le problème ne vient pas de la déconnexion des périphériques midi mais de la déconnexion de l'interface audio USB focurite solo...

After various tests, it seems that the problem is not with disconnecting the midi peripherals but with disconnecting the focurite solo USB audio interface...

J'ai déjà eu ce genre de problème avec une interface audio (m-audio de mauvaise qualité...) en windows 7 à l'époque. Quand on débranchait (ou que l'on fermait windows) en mode "audio actif", j'obtenais le tristement célèbre BSoD. Il s'agit d'un bogue du pilote de l'interface. Cela me surprend pour une interface focusrite alors je vérifierais les mise à jour et si cela ne corrige pas le problème, je le rapporterais car leurs pilotes sont solides en général.

Yes, highly likely it's the Focusrite driver that's misbehaving on disconnect causing the crash.
