Topic: Kinderszenen, Op. 15: I. Von fremden Ländern und Menschen

Thought I'd share my version of Kinderszenen, Op. 15: I. Von fremden Ländern und Menschen by Robert Schumann. I recorded this version on February 8th, 2025, and rendered this using the U4 Tall Concert preset (slightly modified). I switched the dynamics to 60db to allow for the greater variation this song seems to call for, IMO. I'm working on other pieces in this work, so hopefully will be able to share those soon!

Mastering Chain using Logic 11.1 Pro:

PianoTeq 8.4 (modified U4 Tall Concert, 60db, no reverb, -4 key release, -2 pedal, no limiter, .25 wear and tear), +1db
Compressor (Vintage VCA, -40db threshold, 1.3 ratio, 0.7 knee, 26ms attack, 48ms release, -12db auto gain)
Quantec Room Simulator (Based on one of the QRS Classics Concert Halls, IIRC, Quantec YardStick, 1.6s, 10^4 m^3 room size, dry 0db, reverb delay 100ms, 1st reflection -26db, reverb level -12db)
Linear EQ (Low Cut 50hz)
Normalized to -1db

Wonderful Performance Kerri ! I also liked the quality of sound you reached in this small and dreamy Schumann piece.
Thank you for sharing and greetings from Italy

Hello KerriS and nice to have you back again.
And thank you for giving us beautiful music. With a nice sound. U4 is so fantastic, especially in those two sections where you play more forte. Bass tones are always good in U4. WoW!
You play so gentle and in right tempo. Well played. I can imagine seeing my grandchildren, two girls, dancing gracefully to your beautiful music.

Thank you Kerri.

Best wishes,

Stig

This is a super late reply, but I wanted to say thank you! It's such dreamy and light piece -- perfect for graceful dancing!!! I agree that the U4 is perfect for this piece as well as several others in the Kinderszenen -- I've got one more about to release (No 7) and am working an another (no 12) that I think works quite well w/ the U4. Who knows... maybe I'll eventually get the entire set down!

Cheers,
~Kerri
