Topic: Turn off/remove build-in MIDI player

Hi, Folks -

A number of years ago I was playing a junior college jazz band gig on a cheap Yamaha digital piano. It had a button that triggers the built-in demo mode. At the end of one of the numbers, the director cut us off and I accidentally triggered the demo, and it happily played nice and loud, a totally unrelated tune well after the band was done. I was so embarrassed.

So ever since I have tried to make sure that never happens to me again. Today while I was practicing for an upcoming gig I triggered the built-in midi demo on Pianoteq. Not sure even how, something with my PC keyboard I think.

How do I disable/remove that function? On Pianoteq 8 there is no way that I can find to do that.

I can relate to your experience, the same happened to me a few years back . I played live with a Yamaha Clavinova at some point, a demo file started , I never understood what triggered it !  Anyway back to your question, one potential solution is to launch Pianoteq as a VST in a DAW, as the demo mode is not present.

Maybe make a midi file with no note on/off data and load it at startup

Actually , the simplest solution is to right click on the bar where the demo song is playing , it offers the possibility to deselect any or all of the 16 midi channels and no demo will be audible in case of mouse/event mistake .
