Topic: Ladies In Mercedes (Pianoteq)

here's an unusual tune ... one of Steve Swallow's "circular" progressions.  not sure what it has to do with either ladies or mercedes but it's a lot of fun to play

Re: Ladies In Mercedes (Pianoteq)

Very 'Latin' in flavour; not a gentle beguine nor a harsh tango - something in between!

Liked your free flowing style and additional 'licks' to add to the overall rhythmic interpretation - NICE !!!

This piece is beautiful, bold and elegant. I'm very annoyed by both the choice of instrument and the attitude with which you play it.
Bravo!

Wow and Wow! Brilliant! In so many ways! There are so many nice sections here. You really are an exciting pianist.
                             And…..
What a nice ending. At 4.25 I thought the end would soon come, but at the chord 4.32 it was an abrupt end. What a marvellous, sublime  surprise!!  Love it!    Always new endings - wow!

Best wishes,

Stig

Such a surprise ! If you'd said Jobim or Carlos and Jocáfi, it would have been something (nearly) obvious. It's S. Swallow, I did'nt know he had composed tunes like this.

Your ending is a surprise too.

thank you Borealis!  yes he wrote some rather unusual tunes.  one characteristic of his compositions (that you don't see in say Jobim) is the circular nature.  they often don't have such a clear starting point in the harmony and circle back on themselves.  this happens in a lot of them, no matter what the tempo/groove is ...
