Topic: MIDI with DAW Only using Cakewalk

Greetings,

I am new to this forum and in the process of evaluating various ways to get organ sounds into my church hall.  We bought a building that is not like a traditional church building.  It is not configured such that we could ever fit in an organ console or the types of speakers normally associated with a electronic church organ.

I use Cakewalk for my MIDI sequences.  I understand MIDI fairly well and have USB MIDI and audio interfaces.  There are only a couple of options for getting organ sounds into the facility.  One is by using a MIDI keyboard to drive a hardware MIDI organ device.  This is not ideal because the digital keyboard is an old and rather primitive instrument.

The other option is driving a MIDI device or a software MIDI instrument with a laptop using Cakewalk.  I am considering OrganTeq or Viscount Laurel.  I am not sure which would be more practical and hoping someone on this forum can offer some insight.  As I understand it, OrganTeq is software, while Viscount is hardware.  In either case, I would use the laptop to run sequences.

Please give input on how easy or complicated it is to use OrganTeq with Cakewalk.

Thank you,
UCG Musician
